The agitation for an independent Biafra state has soared since President Muhammadu Buhari came into power and the region has not kept secret its displeasure of the current administration.  President Buhari has been accused by the Igbos of marginalisation and trying to Islamise the country with the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra fuelling the agitation.  Although President Buhari has said that he will not conduct a referendum to determine whether to grant the request for secession, this has not stopped the campaign for Biafra.  Pro-Biafra groups have staged several protests to call attention to their desire and there was significant compliance with the stay-at-home protest on Friday, September 24 in some parts of the south organised by IPOB and this has also caught the attention of international communities. Let us assume that President Buhari releases Kanu and grants a referendum and the Igbos vote overwhelmingly for an independent Biafra state,

Be At Alert, 30 States Might Experience Heavy Flooding - Federal Govt The Federal Government through the Ministry of Water Resources has sympathized with all Nigerians affected by the recent flood in Lagos and Niger state, blaming the flooding as a result of the delay in rainfall which caused the long duration of the torrential downpour. The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, delivered the government’s sympathy at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja. While revealing the cause of the heavy downpour, the minister also told journalists that about 30 states and over 100 local government areas, which had been categorized as high flood risk areas, could expect heavy flooding this year.
